What is actually published
| Source | What it says | What it is not |
|---|---|---|
| Take-Two preorder announcement | Grand Theft Auto VI is not yet rated. | Not an ESRB or PEGI certificate, and not a content-descriptor list. |
| Xbox.com US listing | Rating Pending. May contain content inappropriate for children. Visit ESRB.org for rating information. | Not a final Mature 17+ rating. The notice is the pending-label wording, not a descriptor sheet. |
The Xbox line was read on the US listing on September 29, 2026. Under “Additional information” it says Rating Pending, then “May contain content inappropriate for children. Visit ESRB.org for rating information.” Publisher and developer are Rockstar Games. Release date on that page is November 19, 2026, for Xbox Series X|S. That is a store label, not the ESRB’s finished certificate.
Take-Two’s preorder release is the publisher line this site already uses for the November 19 date, the $79.99 Standard Edition, and the November 12 preload. The same release says the game is not yet rated. A page that prints Mature 17+, PEGI 18, or a list of descriptors is ahead of those two documents.
Why “it’s always been M” is not a rating
Earlier Grand Theft Auto games carried adult ratings. That history is why people expect another one. It does not fill in paperwork Rockstar has not published for VI. A pending label means the board has not issued the final mark this listing is waiting on. It does not mean the mark is already Mature and the word just has not been typed.
This page also does not borrow a parents-guide from trailer tone. The story follows Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos in Leonida. That is the confirmed premise. It is not a content-descriptor list. Blood, sexual content, language, and drug lines belong on the rating certificate when a board prints them.
PlayStation and other regional stores can show their own pending badges. This page does not reprint a badge it did not open, including any PEGI provisional mark. If a storefront and a board disagree, the board’s published rating is the certificate. Until that page exists, the honest status is Rating Pending.
What you can decide without a fake certificate
The launch date does not depend on the rating line. Console release is still November 19, 2026 on PS5 & Xbox Series X|S. Digital preload opens November 12, 2026 at local midnight. Preload is not early access, and it does not reveal an install size — that figure is still unpublished on the preload guide.
If you are buying for a household, use the PlayStation or Xbox account age settings you already trust. The US Xbox notice says the pending game may contain content inappropriate for children and sends readers to ESRB.org. That is the instruction on the listing. It is not a substitute for a finished rating, and it is not permission for a fan site to write the missing descriptors.
Price and edition choice live on the editions comparison. Which machines are actually announced lives on the platforms guide. PC is still unannounced. None of those pages is an age rating.

Frequently asked questions
What is the GTA 6 age rating?
Not final. Take-Two’s preorder announcement says Grand Theft Auto VI is not yet rated. The US Xbox listing shows Rating Pending.
Is GTA 6 rated M for Mature?
Not on the sources this page uses. The US Xbox listing says Rating Pending. A Mature rating on an older Grand Theft Auto is not a certificate for this game.
Is GTA 6 PEGI 18?
A final PEGI rating is not in the Take-Two announcement or on the US Xbox listing checked for this page. This page does not copy a provisional badge from another storefront.
Has Rockstar published GTA 6 content descriptors?
Not in the preorder announcement, and not on the US Xbox listing. That listing points readers to ESRB.org and does not print a blood, sex, language, or drug list. This page does not invent one.
Does preloading change the age rating?
No. Digital preload opens November 12, 2026 at local midnight so a preorder is ready on November 19, 2026. It is not early access, and it is not a rating.
