GTA 6: Everything We Know So Far

GTA 6 launches Thursday, November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar locked the date via its Newswire after moving it twice from an earlier 2025 window — this is the confirmed, final date, not a rumor.

It is a current-gen-only launch: there is no PS4 or Xbox One version. Digital preload opens November 12, 2026, so the download can finish before unlock. Release times will follow Rockstar's usual local-midnight or global-unlock pattern.

Not confirmed. Rockstar has only announced PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. History strongly suggests a PC version will follow — GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 both arrived on PC roughly a year or more after their console debuts — but Rockstar has made no PC commitment for GTA 6, and no date exists.

Treat any specific "GTA 6 PC release date" as speculation until Rockstar says otherwise. If it follows the RDR2 pattern, a post-launch 2027+ window is the community's working assumption — an estimate, not a fact.

There are exactly two editions and no collector's box. The Standard Edition is $79.99; the Ultimate Edition is $99.99. The widely-feared $100 base price never materialized — the Standard sits at the now-normal $79.99 tier.

Pre-orders opened June 25, 2026. Digital buyers before November 20, 2026 (and physical pre-orders while supplies last) receive the free Vintage Vice City Pack — a bundle of period-styled cosmetics, a beachfront garage near Ocean Beach, and a Paradise Garage in Watson Bay.

Physical copies are a code-in-box rather than a disc with the full game, in line with GTA 6 being a large current-gen download. The Ultimate Edition's extras stack on top of the pre-order bonus.

GTA 6 is set in Leonida, Rockstar's take on modern Florida, built around a rebuilt Vice City (its Miami). The map spans six named regions — Vice City, the Leonida Keys, the Grassrivers wetlands (an Everglades analog), the Gulf-coast town of Port Gellhorn, the inland sugar county of Ambrosia, and the northern Mount Kalaga National Park.

Rockstar calls Vice City the most detailed city it has ever built, with hundreds of enterable interiors. Community estimates put the full map at roughly 1.5–2× the size of GTA 5's — an unconfirmed estimate, since Rockstar has published no dimensions.

GTA 6 stars two playable leads — Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos — in a Bonnie-and-Clyde-style criminal partnership. Lucia is the first playable female protagonist in a mainline modern GTA. The trailers frame their relationship, and the promise of switching between them, as the heart of the game.

Jason is an ex-military drug-runner from the Leonida Keys; Lucia is fresh out of a Leonida prison and chasing "the good life." Their story runs on money, loyalty, and escalating crime across the state.

Around the leads is a confirmed cast of club owners, label bosses, and viral artists who run Vice City's nightlife-and-music economy — Boobie Ike, Dre'Quan Priest, the Real Dimez, and more. We track every officially revealed character with their Rockstar cast art and trailer appearances.

The map's power is split between street gangs, biker clubs, and an alphabet soup of Leonida police departments — the factions who control each corner of the state.

We have 268 GTA 6 vehicles on file — every car, bike, boat, train, and aircraft confirmed or spotted so far, grouped by class with manufacturers. Expect the roster to grow past 300 by launch, matching GTA's usual scale.

Each of GTA's fictional brands parodies a real one, and we've matched 105 vehicles to the real cars they're based on — from the Bravado Banshee (Dodge Viper) to the Grotti Cheetah (Ferrari).

The confirmed arsenal so far spans handguns, shotguns, SMGs, rifles, snipers, explosives, and melee, plus equipment like body armor and trauma kits. Every confirmed weapon has its own page with class, real-world basis, and specs.

Combat is expected to build on Red Dead Redemption 2's systems — a step up from GTA 5 in animation and physics — though Rockstar has detailed little officially yet.

GTA 6 is Rockstar's first current-gen-only game, and it shows: dynamic weather including storms and flooding, a dense living world with expanded wildlife, detailed interiors, and a social-media-saturated Vice City. Rockstar's framing is that it surpasses RDR2's fidelity.

Confirmed activities already include mod shops, tattoo parlors, clothing stores, nightlife, and street car meets, with hunting and fishing strongly implied by the wilderness regions.

Rockstar has confirmed GTA 6 launches with a single-player campaign; a new evolution of GTA Online is expected to follow rather than ship day one, mirroring how GTA 5's online mode arrived after the story. Whether current GTA Online progress or purchases carry over has not been confirmed.

Details are thin — treat specific online features as unconfirmed until Rockstar announces them.

Only a handful of songs are officially confirmed — the tracks featured across the two trailers — and the returning V-Rock brand has been spotted. Full station lineups and tracklists typically stay under wraps until launch.
