GTA 6 FAQ: 17 answers, no noise
The questions everyone keeps asking about GTA 6, answered plainly. Every fact here is checked against official Rockstar announcements and reliable reporting as of August 2026 — and anything that’s still a rumor is labeled as one.
When does GTA 6 come out?
GTA 6 launches Thursday, November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar locked the date in via its Newswire in November 2025, after two earlier delays.
How much does GTA 6 cost?
The Standard Edition is $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition is $99.99 in the US (about £69.99 / €79.99 elsewhere). The widely rumored $100 base price never materialized.
Is GTA 6 coming to PC?
No PC version has been announced. Rockstar has historically brought GTA to PC one to two years after console (GTA 5: 2013 to 2015; RDR2: 2018 to 2019), so a later PC release is expected — but it remains unconfirmed.
Can I still preorder GTA 6?
Yes. Preorders opened June 25, 2026 through the Rockstar Store, PlayStation Store, Xbox/Microsoft Store, and retailers like Amazon and GameStop.
Does the physical edition come on a disc?
No. The boxed edition ships with a one-time download code tied to your PSN or Xbox account — there is no disc at launch, and reporting suggests none is planned. The decision drew significant backlash, and some retailers declined to stock it.
Who are the main characters in GTA 6?
Dual protagonists Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, a crime-couple you play across Leonida. Lucia is the first playable female lead in a modern mainline GTA.
Where is GTA 6 set?
The state of Leonida — Rockstar’s fictional Florida. It is anchored by Vice City (a modern Miami) plus the Leonida Keys, the Grassrivers wetlands, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga National Park.
How big is the GTA 6 map?
Rockstar has not published exact dimensions. The New York Times preview reports a Rockstar comparison of about three times Red Dead Redemption 2’s playable area, while sanctioned preview coverage attributes a roughly two-times-GTA-5 comparison to Rob Nelson.
Does GTA 6 have multiplayer or GTA Online at launch?
No. At Take-Two’s September 17, 2026 shareholder meeting, CEO Strauss Zelnick said GTA VI launches November 19 as a single-player title on Xbox and PlayStation 5, with no recurrent consumer spending anticipated for this launch. GTA V Online continues. A GTA 6 online mode has not been announced, and no date for one exists.
When can I preload GTA 6?
Digital preload starts November 12, 2026 at local midnight for preorders on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S — a full week before launch.
Is there a Collector’s or Special Edition?
No. There are only two tiers: Standard ($79.99) and Ultimate ($99.99). No physical collector’s box exists.
What’s in the GTA 6 Ultimate Edition?
Story-spanning extras that unlock chapter by chapter: exclusive vehicles (’95 Grotti Cheetah, Shitzu Squalo boat, ’67 Dominator Buggy with the Paradise Garage), exclusive mod shops and vendors, Vice-styled revolvers and personalized signature pistols, apparel, FAILE tattoos, and bonus activities like a classic-car restoration.
