In Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online, the Benson was repurposed chiefly as a removals truck rather than the bottler-style vehicle seen in Grand Theft Auto IV. Its former rear trolley and loading-bay arrangement were replaced by a bottom-hinged ramp door. The larger door moved the side handles higher, while additional marker lamps were fitted.

The front end also changed: the earlier push bar gave way to a larger heavy-duty unit shared with the Hauler, the bumper became plastic rather than chrome, and the grille was revised without the earlier three-dimensional horizontal bars. The side shutters became flatter, and the passenger-side step light was removed. An interior was added in this version.

The V-era Benson can carry cars and motorcycles in its rear compartment after the door is forced down by repeated gunfire or by striking it with another vehicle or obstacle. Cargo vehicles may fail to remain secure: they can jam inside, explode, or unexpectedly slide back out.

Grand Theft Auto IV used separate paint assignments for the cab and rear body, although only two colour combinations spawned. It could be plain or wear Burger Shot, Cluckin' Bell, Sprunk, Mr. Wong's Laundrette, Post OP, or Truck You! branding. Grand Theft Auto V and Online instead use one overall paint colour and introduced six replacement liveries.

The GTA IV Benson is a large, heavy truck with slow initial pickup and unwieldy steering, but it can eventually reach a moderate speed. Its mass makes stopping at speed difficult, while also allowing it to force traffic aside and absorb considerable gunfire. Its badging describes an intercooled V8, despite the visible model being a turbocharged four-cylinder without an intercooler. It uses ordinary disc brakes, unlike the air-braked Packer.

In GTA V and Online, it accelerates and travels faster than its GTA IV counterpart, though its low gearing requires many upshifts before it gains substantial momentum. It remains tough under gunfire and can still shove other traffic aside despite weighing slightly less. The visible engine is a turbocharged twin-cam inline-four even though the badges still indicate a V8. Its engine audio is shared with the Mule, Police Riot, and Stockade, but the Benson reaches higher revs than those trucks. Removing a corpse from it can trigger a faulty animation in which the character briefly clips through the body.

In GTA V and Online, the Benson belongs to the TRUCKS_DELIVERY model set, which commonly routes delivery trucks through alleys and parking areas. It appears frequently around Burton and Alta, and less often on highways near Murrieta Heights or Elysian Island. In GTA IV, it can be found around Acter Industrial Park and Tudor in Alderney, as well as occasionally in BOABO, Broker, Bohan’s industrial district, and the car parks near Cerveza Heights.

It serves as a roadblock in Franklin and Lamar and is rammed into police cruisers during The Jewel Store Job. A blank white example may act as an alcohol-delivery van in Property Management: Pitchers. Online missions use it for stolen vehicles, Lost MC meth supplies, gang-ambush blockades, nightclub rival supplies, and recovered nightclub goods. Series A - Weed requires two unmarked black Bensons, while Method in the Madness includes two blank white trucks that must be destroyed.

The Benson’s older Grand Theft Auto IV form was a longer vehicle than its 3D Universe predecessor and used a bottler-truck layout. It had side shutters, a rear trolley, and a loading bay, although the latter equipment did not function. Some variants, including the mail truck, did not use the original bottler purpose. Its front push bar was shared with the Enforcer. After all thirty of Stevie’s requested cars are collected, a pristine Benson can be sold to him for $4,000.
