Police Cruiser (Buffalo)

For Grand Theft Auto VI, the Police Cruiser (Buffalo) is assigned to the Leonard County Sheriff. No trailer timestamp, screenshot location, regional sighting beyond that agency assignment, or promotional-image appearance is specified. Its confirmed GTA VI information is therefore limited to its impending appearance and Leonard County Sheriff use.

The car draws on the first- and second-generation Dodge Charger Pursuit, specifically the type used by the New York Police Department. Its earlier Liberty City presentation took much of its visual identity from those NYPD cars, including a closely matching paint scheme. The Buffalo police conversion was also one of several Buffalo-derived law-enforcement vehicles, following the original FIB Buffalo.

In The Ballad of Gay Tony, the Police Buffalo was restricted to multiplayer. It appeared at police facilities including East Island City, Leftwood and Lower Easton; some of those parking areas also held a Police Bike, Police Stinger or conventional Police Cruiser. The Liberty City Police Department operated it there.

Its roof aerial placement had a visible model flaw: one antenna could appear to float beside the vehicle. The car shared its unmarked FIB Buffalo counterpart's top speed, engine and weight, while its acceleration exceeded that of the regular police vehicles apart from the Police Stinger. It was rear-wheel drive, prone to oversteer at low speed, but stable at higher speed and more resistant to frontal damage than the regular Police Cruiser.

Grand Theft Auto V retained the earlier model but recast it for the Los Santos Police Department. The LSPD version used a larger front pushbar instead of the smaller New York-inspired item, omitted the A-pillar spotlight, and replaced the older emergency setup with LED units in the grille, roof, rear window and tail lamps. Entering one gives the player a Pump Shotgun.

The original GTA V version lacked the two-digit roof identifier carried by other LSPD vehicles, yet it alone had a badge on its hood. A low-profile rear spoiler could occasionally be fitted. Enhanced editions revised the side markings with air identification numbers and the city seal, added a different pushbar, removed the hood badge, and changed the finish from matte to metallic; the optional spoiler remained. The enhanced revision also fixed the grille lamp housing, which had been white despite flashing blue in the original release.

In the original GTA V release, this was an unusually scarce police vehicle. It could appear between midnight and 4:00 AM at the Strawberry Avenue train station below the Olympic Freeway, around Mission Row Police Station, Legion Square, Pillbox Hill or the La Mesa station entrance. Driving one could make another appear at the Strawberry Avenue location. Enhanced editions made it commoner around Pillbox Hill and Mission Row, and Director Mode could bring one to the player downtown after at least a two-star wanted level.

Compared with its earlier counterpart, the GTA V vehicle was substantially tougher, although its front axle bent more readily than those on other police cars, especially the Vapid rival. Rear-window warning lights could flash in an uneven pattern, as on other police models, and the scanner could identify this Bravado as one of the Vapid police cars. A Grand Theft Auto Online trailer showed one, suggesting it may once have been intended to appear during chases.
