This as-yet-unnamed 1955 Vapid Stanier is a full-size classic car due to appear in Grand Theft Auto VI, seen in yellow and white outside the Boardwalk Hotel on Vice Beach's Ocean Drive-style strip in the first trailer. It appears to be based primarily on the 1955 Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria, and its placement seems to nod to the yellow-white Oldsmobile Super 88 famously parked outside Miami Beach's Avalon Hotel.
First-Trailer Sighting
At 0:31 in Grand Theft Auto VI’s first trailer, the car is parked outside the Boardwalk Hotel. The shot is set on Vice Beach’s Ocean Drive-inspired waterfront street, in the Vice City region, and the example shown wears a yellow-and-white paint scheme.
Mid-Century Design Sources
The 1955 Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria two-door hardtop provides the principal basis for the design, while the side profile takes cues from the 1955 Buick Roadmaster two-door hardtop. Further styling influences include the 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air two-door hardtop sedan and the 1955 Oldsmobile Super 88 two-door hardtop coupe. The 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air four-door sedan is a lesser influence.
Earlier Vice City Parallel
Its hotel-side presentation recalls a real yellow-and-white Oldsmobile Super 88 parked outside the Avalon Hotel on Miami Beach’s Ocean Drive. That real-world arrangement had previously been referenced in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, where an Oceanic was placed outside the Ocean View Hotel.
