The documented Grand Theft Auto VI appearance is in promotional artwork released alongside the first trailer, where Jason Duval holds the Pistol. Its outline and overall form closely match the Grand Theft Auto V version. The slide in this image lacks the Hawk & Little marking carried by the earlier model; that omission suggests a possible manufacturer change, but does not confirm one.

No trailer timestamp, gameplay sequence, screenshot location, or in-game region has been identified for the weapon. The artwork is the only stated Grand Theft Auto VI sighting.

Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online gave the Pistol the appearance of a Taurus PT92AF, itself a Beretta 92F-derived design. Its 12-cartridge magazine is closer in capacity to the compact PT92C than to the PT92AF, whose standard magazines are listed as holding 10, 15, or 17 rounds. Parts of the game model’s slide also borrow the look of a Colt M1911.

The earlier Grand Theft Auto IV Pistol resembles a Glock 17, although a “22” marking on its slide points toward the Glock 22 as an additional influence. Chinatown Wars used a nonspecific pistol symbol in its interface, while artwork for that game gave the weapon some visual similarity to the Smith & Wesson 622.

In Grand Theft Auto IV and its episodes, the Pistol remained useful for much longer than the series’ usual early-game sidearms. Cover, careful pacing, and accurate shots allowed missions to be completed with it alone. It could also be fired from vehicles, and its ready availability, magazine capacity, and faster firing pace made it preferable to the Combat Pistol during chases and drive-bys.

Submachine guns still surpassed pistols when available because they fire automatically, shoot faster, and sometimes inflict more damage. Most LCPD and ASP officers carried the Pistol, while NOOSE and FIB personnel could rarely use one after being disarmed. Back-alley shops sold it for $600, or $420 through Little Jacob, Terry Thorpe, or Armando Torres; extra magazines cost $35 normally and $25 from those contacts.

In Grand Theft Auto V and Online, the Pistol used a 12-round magazine, five fewer rounds than the preceding version, but retained strong power, reach, and manageable recoil. An Extended Clip raised capacity to 16. Tapping the fire control repeatedly increased its firing rate compared with simply holding it, making the weapon an effective early all-purpose firearm before assault rifles or carbine rifles became more efficient choices.

Ammu-Nation sold the weapon for $350 from the beginning of Grand Theft Auto V. Franklin received it during Repossession; Michael possessed one after Complications, and Trevor started with one during Mr. Philips. Trevor later received a suppressed example from Wade Hebert before the attack on The Lost in Friends Reunited. In the enhanced edition, its grip changed from black to brown.

Police officers, gang members, Blaine County residents, security personnel, and soldiers could use the Grand Theft Auto V Pistol. Injured enemies sometimes switched to it as a final weapon before bleeding out. Mounting a Police Bike also awarded one. In Online, every new player received a Pistol on first login, including those who skipped the original introduction; Career Builder likewise supplied it in the Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC Enhanced releases.

The weapon’s calibre is inconsistent within Grand Theft Auto V. Its engraving and Michael’s dialogue in Complications call it a 9mm, while Ammu-Nation describes it as .45 calibre. Police officer character models also have a Glock in their right holster, but that model is never fired: when combat begins, the usable Pistol appears in hand and the holstered Glock remains visible.
