Incarceration and trailer activity
Lucia is incarcerated at Leonida Penitentiary in Vice-Dale County, Leonida, during the mid-2020s. The offence that led to her sentence has not been identified. Stefanie appears to have been assigned as Lucia’s correctional social worker while she was in custody.
The first Grand Theft Auto VI trailer places Lucia alongside Jason Duval in a series of robberies at locations around Leonida. The material establishes the pair as criminal partners, but does not identify the individual businesses or provide mission, vehicle, weapon, or gameplay details for those robberies.
Bonnie and Clyde parallel
Lucia and Jason’s robbery partnership appears to draw on Bonnie and Clyde, the real American criminal couple. This comparison comes from the trailer’s depiction of the two carrying out crimes together across Leonida rather than from a stated in-game explanation of Lucia’s background.
Catalina, from an earlier Grand Theft Auto continuity, had previously also been associated with a Bonnie-and-Clyde-inspired criminal pairing. Lucia is also compared with Katie, an earlier Latina protagonist who shared a Vice City criminal record with the other protagonists of her game.
Comparable female criminals
A further comparison has been made with a female robber from Red Dead Redemption 2: both characters are criminal companions to a male lead and are portrayed as capable with firearms. Lucia’s known connection to Jason is the only confirmed affiliation listed for her.
Earlier Grand Theft Auto female protagonists included Katie, Ulrika, Mikki, Divine, Candy and Gretchen, as well as female player characters in Grand Theft Auto Online. Lucia’s portrayal differs from the older silent or optional characters through her position as a fully voiced major lead.
