Scorcher

In Grand Theft Auto VI, the Scorcher has been seen in Vice City on two occasions. Footage from September 2022 showed one parked in a park beside the bay. The first GTA VI trailer later showed another at a Vice City junction, positioned on tactile paving at 1:07.

These sightings confirm its presence in the Vice City region, but the material does not establish whether its GTA VI specification, colours, equipment or handling differ from the versions used in earlier games.

The Scorcher appeared in Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online as a PED Cycles bicycle in the Cycles class. It was sold through Pedal and Metal Cycles for $1,000 in GTA V and $2,000 in GTA Online.

In GTA V, it could turn up on trails and roads around the Chiliad Mountain State Wilderness and Paleto Forest, on bike paths in Vespucci Beach, Rockford Hills, Mirror Park and Del Perro, and sometimes outside Michael De Santa's home. Two were available by the mountain-bike rental shack near the Pala Springs Aerial Tramway, while another regular location was the rental point used during Daddy's Little Girl.

Online retained some of those free-roam spawn areas, although sightings were uncommon. Riding one around them increased the chance that another would appear. Riders also used Scorchers on the daytime dirt tracks surrounding the Sandy Shores wind turbines.

The earlier Scorcher was a hardtail mountain bike built for off-road use. Its frame carried front suspension, disc brakes, black handlebars with a single lamp, and a black saddle fitted with a small red rear reflector. It used broad, treaded tyres intended to grip loose ground.

Its front forks had nickel-plated steel stanchions and a squared fork bridge. The head angle was described as roughly 65 degrees, with a more substantial junction around the head tube. Its hydraulic disc brakes used four-spoke rotors.

The visible drivetrain appeared to use two front chainrings and one rear cog. However, the handlebars showed brake levers without shifters, leaving no apparent way to change gears while riding. The smaller chainring and derailleur therefore served no practical purpose, apparently as a development oversight.

Frame markings included the Scorcher name and XRK Bikes branding, with additional lettering on the tyres and suspension components. Spawned examples could have black mudguards over the wheels or no mudguards at all.

The frame came in several primary colours, while the suspension was normally white as a secondary colour. Purchased versions instead used black for that secondary finish. Red, yellow and green were common world-spawn colours; other colours were comparatively rare unless those common variants were already present.

Among GTA V and Online bicycles, the Scorcher was quicker than standard bikes but trailed the three race-oriented models: the Tri-Cycles, Whippet and Endurex. Its rugged tyres gave it stronger control and traction on dirt, including on very steep climbs. It could perform wheelies and bunny hops like the BMX, although its weight made those moves less effective. It was the second-heaviest bicycle, with only the Cruiser weighing more.

Michael could select one during Daddy's Little Girl, and a Scorcher was placed near the end of Did Somebody Say Yoga?. It was also used by Mary-Ann Quinn during Exercising Demons, while Franklin and Dom Beasley descended Mount Chiliad on Scorchers in Risk Assessment. Gray Nicholson rode one during the Bike Robbery random event. Dom, Gray, Mary-Ann and Michael are associated with the model.

A stationary bunny hop could occasionally leave the bicycle hovering for several seconds. While suspended, it could be rotated and tilted before dropping back to the ground. Dom called his machine a five-figure bike during Risk Assessment, despite the $1,000 store price, suggesting that his example may have received extensive modifications.
