A Vapid police sedan is due to appear in Grand Theft Auto VI, seen responding in green and white Leonard County Sheriff livery alongside a police SUV in the first trailer and being rammed by an Astron pursuing Jason and Lucia in the second. Equipped with a pushbar, flashing headlights and a blue/red LED lightbar, it also features in close-up in a Raul Bautista video on the promotional website.
Promotional Website Police Liveries
Rockstar’s promotional website video focused on Raul Bautista gives the clearest view of the Vapid police sedan’s nose, including the Vapid emblem in its grille. The featured car wears Vice City Police Department markings, and one shown example carries lieutenant identification. A separate sedan appears behind it in a dark green-and-white Vice-Dale Police Department-style “panda” scheme.
These promotional appearances establish more than one agency treatment for the full-size, four-door model. The Leonard County Sheriff, VCPD and apparent VDPD presentations use the same basic police-sedan form, rather than identifying separate civilian vehicles.
Ford Panther-Platform Inspiration
Its design draws on Ford’s Panther platform, the architecture used beneath the Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town Car. The overall body most closely resembles the second-generation Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, while its headlamps and front indicators take their cues from the fourth-generation Mercury Grand Marquis.
Within Grand Theft Auto, the sedan resembles the recurring Police Cruiser line and appears to combine characteristics associated with its first- and second-generation versions. Rockstar North also imported a Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor into the United Kingdom in February 2021 to record sound samples for this vehicle.
