Baller (second generation)

At 0:03 in Grand Theft Auto VI’s first trailer, a blue Baller drives along a highway near the Leonida Penitentiary in Vice-Dale County. A white example is parked at 0:31 on the artificial islands between Vice City and Vice Beach. At 0:51, another travels south on Interstate 97 ahead of a Towtruck.

The second trailer shows a Baller wrecked and burning in the Starlet Motel car park at 1:54. It also appears in several official screenshots. One Rockstar image filed under Vice City shows a two-colour paint treatment and updated headlamps.

A September 2022 leaked clip placed a steel-blue Baller near the Cipher Mall in Rockridge, Vice City, passing Lucia. That version had different standard wheels and front indicator lenses, door handles repositioned to line up with the chrome side trim, and a tow ball at the rear.

The first trailer appears to retain those revisions while adding a moonroof running from above the front occupants toward the rear seats, like the arrangement used by the Baller ST-D. The Vice City promotional screenshot adds further visible changes through its altered headlights and two-tone finish.

The second-generation Baller draws chiefly from the L494 Range Rover Sport. Its front bumper, lamps and complete rear treatment take major cues from the L538 Range Rover Evoque, while the side detailing is derived from the L405 Range Rover.

In its Grand Theft Auto V-era form, the front used extensive black polymer trim, a broad lower trapezoidal opening, a smaller chrome-bordered grille, and large outer ducts with horizontal LED strips. Bulging wheel arches, blacked-out pillar trim, chrome side lines and a vertical front-side vent defined the profile. At the back, narrow LED lamps were linked by chrome trim above the number-plate recess, while the polymer bumper enclosed the exhaust outlets.

In Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online, Gallivanter’s Baller is classed as an SUV, with Light Truck listed as its body type. It used split six-spoke wheels shared with the Surano and low-profile tyres; body paint and interior stitching used the same primary colour. A cutscene at LSIA depicts its tailgate operating electrically.

Its acceleration was average for the SUV class and its maximum speed was described as good, but its weight and limited traction produced substantial understeer. It handled more effectively away from paved roads, where its cornering grip supported faster, more accurate driving. It was rated below the Huntley Sport in nearly every respect. The engine-cover model suggests a longitudinal single-overhead-cam V8 with all-wheel drive, distributing 60 percent of power to the front and 40 percent to the rear.

Southern San Andreas Super Autos sold the Baller for $98,000 in Grand Theft Auto V and $90,000 in GTA Online; Los Santos Customs paid $9,000 for one. Online, it could be encountered around Paleto Bay, Vinewood and the Diamond Casino & Resort, but San Andreas Mercenaries removed it from the website in the enhanced editions. In story mode it was common around Families and Ballas territory, and special examples could be retained from the wedding-groom and La Puerta drunk-driver Random Events.

A metallic Ultra Blue version could appear during a restarted Father/Son checkpoint attempt, with a chance of otherwise unavailable Matte Gray or Worn Green pearlescent colouring. A Baller was also available as an escape vehicle in Dead Man Walking. Earlier Super Autos listings mistakenly displayed the first-generation Baller, while Rockstar Games Social Club reversed the two generations’ purchase status despite the in-game listings.
