The Pfister Comet Retro Custom is a Benny's-modified custom sports car released with Grand Theft Auto Online's Import/Export update in December 2016 and due to appear in Grand Theft Auto VI. It reimagines the classic Comet as a riveted, retro-styled urban dragster.

Trailer appearance in Vice City

The Comet Retro Custom is visible in Vice City in the first Grand Theft Auto VI trailer, at 1:07. It is parked motionless in the centre of an intersection. This is the specifically shown GTA VI appearance; no GTA VI price, performance data, or customization options are established here.

Its GTA VI model differs from the Grand Theft Auto Online version. It has a grille over the engine bay, a revised standard ducktail, longer rear-quarter window glass, and different factory wheels. The side skirts and front splitter have also been reduced or removed.

Porsche-derived exterior design

The car draws most heavily from the Porsche 964. Its headlights and side skirts also take cues from the Porsche 993, while the rear lamps resemble those fitted to later Porsche 928 versions. The front bumper is described as closely copied from another real-world design, but that vehicle is not identified.

In GTA Online form, the conversion used a broad, bolt-on body kit: widened arches, attached lower skirts, a deep bumper extension, mesh centre intake, enclosed twin fog lamps, and small upward-curving canards. Circular main lamps sat above a front luggage compartment carrying a Pfister badge, with carpeting and a strut brace visible inside.

Comet lineage and conversion

The Retro Custom is a body-kitted development of the Comet. Its styling recalls the Comet seen in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, while retaining traits associated with later HD Universe Comets, including a fixed roof and comparatively short proportions.

In Grand Theft Auto Online, it was created by taking a Comet to Benny's Original Motor Works, at a conversion cost of $645,000. Comets obtained from traffic or stolen from NPCs were ineligible because the workshop treated them as too hot. The model belonged to the Sports class, with a sports-car body type.

Cabin, colours and wheels

The interior retained the regular Comet’s textures and instruments, but used a shorter steering column, altered steering wheel, ordinary seats, and a sloped centre console for the radio and gear lever. Race-oriented interior parts could be fitted, including a digital instrument display in place of analogue gauges, as on the RE-7B and ETR1.

Body paint also coloured the stitching, while a secondary colour covered stripes by the lower sides, front compartment, cabin, and part of the rear engine area. Separate trim and gauge colours were available for the door and seat areas. Its factory wheels were a Ruff Weld-derived Sport rim design on Atomic low-profile tyres; the rear tyres were wider. A dedicated wheel colour existed only for versions generated through the Content Creator.

Mechanical behaviour and faults

Unlike the standard Comet’s single-cam V8, the Retro Custom used a flat-six engine, arranged similarly to the Comet Safari’s. It had two radiators plus exposed timing-belt and pulley components comparable to those on the Fränken Stange. Its engine note resembled the Comet’s but was lower and louder under revs.

The Benny’s conversion was slower than the regular Comet, paralleling the relationship between the Elegy RH8 and Elegy Retro Custom. Wheelspin delayed launches, and loose rear-end behaviour could make hard turns spin the car. The underside nevertheless showed a front-connected driveshaft despite rear-wheel drive, apparently through reuse of standard-Comet assets. Other recorded issues included a dent-like distortion in the driver-side glass, misaligned liveries, and the lack of a rear-plate option despite a rear plate mounting area.
