The Imponte DF8-90 is a four-door midsize sedan from Grand Theft Auto IV that is due to appear in Grand Theft Auto VI. It appeared twice in the September 2022 leaks, once parked in a Vice City yard and once during weapon-wheel testing footage, and its design reads as a blend of late-1990s and early-2000s General Motors sedans.
GTA VI visual changes
The GTA VI model shown in Vice City footage closely follows the GTA IV sedan, but its visible trim is revised. Its pillars, side mouldings and door handles are body-coloured rather than finished in the older car’s black plastic, while the roof remains black. It also has larger door mirrors and chrome eight-spoke wheels.
The curved pedestal wing identifies the shown car as appearing to be the former V8 Turbo version. Unlike that GTA IV variant, however, the rear carries no V8 Turbo lettering. The footage establishes its presence in Vice City, but does not provide specifications, performance data, purchase information or confirmed traffic-spawn details for GTA VI.
Pontiac-led design influences
The DF8-90 combines styling cues from several late-1990s and early-2000s General Motors vehicles. Its overall profile most strongly resembles the tenth-generation Pontiac Bonneville GXP. The grille and headlamps recall the 2003–2005 Pontiac Sunfire, while the front end and indicators resemble the 2003–2007 Saturn Ion Coupe. Its lower intake echoes the eighth-generation Pontiac Grand Prix GXP, though turned upside down.
Other details draw from a wider set of sedans. The upswept quarter windows at the A-pillars resemble those of the Pontiac G6 sedan; the B- and C-pillar glass resembles the seventh-generation Grand Prix sedan; and the heavier window surround and doors recall the 1999–2005 Pontiac Grand Am. The roof shape resembles the second-generation Dodge Intrepid and the sides suggest the first-generation Saab 9-3. At the rear, the fascia has similarities to the Cadillac Catera and Opel Omega B, while the lamps resemble those of the Holden Caprice WH, Mercedes-Benz W140 S-Class, first-generation Infiniti Q45, or tenth-generation Oldsmobile 88. The V8 Turbo’s wing has also been compared with the fifth-generation Pontiac GTO’s spoiler.
GTA IV model range
In Grand Theft Auto IV, Imponte sold the DF8-90 as a four-door midsize sedan in three visually distinguished versions. The base car has no spoiler. The V6 Sport uses a low lip spoiler whose ends turn downward. The V8 Turbo carries a rounded, C-shaped pedestal spoiler with ends directed outward, plus an Imponte Racing emblem on the boot lid.
All three use the same body, colour selection and handling. The V8 Turbo’s spoiler is shared with the supercharged V8 version of the Primo. The DF8-90 also uses the same cabin as the Feroci and Intruder. It has a female-voiced GPS system when the audio menu remains set to the selected-cars option.
Road behaviour and damage
The GTA IV DF8-90 has strong acceleration for a rear-wheel-drive four-door sedan and combines its high-output engine with a five-speed transmission and a smooth delivery of power. Its speed is described as close to that of substantially more expensive cars, despite its midsize-sedan role.
Power makes the car prone to oversteer, allowing controlled slides, drifting and powerslides. It trades ride quality for effective evasive manoeuvres and above-average handling. Its deformation model withstands damage reasonably well: the passenger compartment and roof remain intact through impacts, and repeated front-end collisions are possible before the car becomes disabled or catches fire.
Liberty City appearances
A special silver DF8-90 sits at Mikhail Faustin’s mansion beside a Turismo at the beginning of his missions, except for Final Destination. That vehicle can use any of 15 lustres. Mikhail Faustin and/or Ilyena Faustin are associated with owning a white DF8-90. The car also appears in Crime and Punishment, Do You Have Protection?, No Love Lost and Rigged to Blow, and is one of the 30 vehicles requested in Stevie’s Car Thefts.
Traffic sightings are rare in South Slopes, Firefly Projects, Firefly Island, Hove Beach, Beachgate and Beechwood City in Broker; Westdyke and Alderney City in Alderney; and Lower Easton, The Triangle and Chinatown. It can occasionally appear after driving a Rebla. Once Stevie’s theft list is complete, an undamaged example can be sold through S&M Auto Sales for up to $1,800. Repainting the car too many times can permanently turn it black, after which its colour cannot be changed.
