The Jet is a wide-body airliner from Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online that is due to appear in Grand Theft Auto VI, notable as the series' first controllable wide-body aircraft and its second flyable airliner after the AT-400. It takes the appearance of a Boeing 747-400, down to the winglets and engines modeled on the GE CF6-80C2.
Grand Theft Auto VI status
The Jet is confirmed to be due in Grand Theft Auto VI. No trailer time, screenshot, promotional image, named region, livery, or GTA VI-specific activity is identified for it. Its confirmed GTA VI appearance therefore does not establish whether its airport locations, enterable examples, handling, or other behavior from Grand Theft Auto V will return.
Airframe design influences
Although its overall inspiration is a Boeing 747-400, several features draw from other airliners. Its tall tail resembles that of the Boeing 767-300ER, while the simplified flight-deck glazing has similarities to the Embraer E-Jet family. The forward-reaching upper-deck hump follows the 747-400 arrangement rather than the later 747-8 Intercontinental, whose hump extends farther toward the middle of the aircraft.
The Jet is a four-engined monoplane. Its landing gear includes nose-wheel taxi lamps, and landing lamps sit in two pairs close to the wing roots. Multiple fictional airline paint schemes are used in GTA V and GTA Online. Cabin windows illuminate after dark, then go dark shortly after the pilot leaves as the engines wind down.
From Liberty City to Los Santos
Grand Theft Auto IV featured several 747-derived aircraft around Francis International Airport in FlyUS colours. They taxied, stood at gates, and flew over Liberty City, but served only as scenery; they could not be boarded or controlled. Those models resembled the earlier 747-300 rather than the newer 747-400-style Jet used in GTA V.
In GTA V and GTA Online, the Jet belongs to the Planes class and is regularly associated with Los Santos International Airport. AI aircraft use runways 12L and 12R for departures and arrivals, with arrivals on 12R commonly travelling toward a stopping point near Hangar 1. Other examples may appear in the southern hangars. Three jets near the main terminal are decorative and cannot be entered, damaged, or otherwise interacted with.
Before the San Andreas Flight School update, entering LSIA without authorization brought a three-star wanted level, making theft hazardous. After the update, Michael and Franklin can use their airport access through owned hangars and enter without that response; Trevor still receives it because he cannot purchase a hangar. The Jet itself cannot be saved in a hangar.
Cabin access and flight behavior
There are no working passenger or cockpit doors. Instead, standing beneath the aircraft allows the player to enter directly. It accommodates two people, a pilot and passenger; beyond the cockpit, the model lacks a furnished passenger cabin. An apparent door outline is present at the cockpit, but there is no actual door there.
Despite its commercial role and considerable mass, the Jet is among the quicker aircraft in GTA V. It outpaces propeller aircraft such as the Cuban 800 and Velum, and is broadly comparable in speed with the Shamal, although a Police Maverick can keep pace. It handles more lightly than the Cargo Plane and Titan and can perform barrel rolls, while its large wings make it steady in flight.
Its engines are exceptionally vulnerable. A light strike against an obstacle can destroy an engine and trigger the loss of the whole aircraft, including during ground movement. By contrast, the fuselage can absorb substantial gunfire. It can continue for a meaningful distance after one engine is damaged, but with every engine out it barely glides before stalling. Engine volume can overwhelm the radio, while first-person view reduces some of that noise.
Airport incidents and glitches
The Jet features prominently in the GTA V mission Legal Trouble. During the airport pursuit, engine blast throws pursuing police vehicles backward, and Molly Schultz is killed after running into an operating engine. That extreme jet-blast effect is scripted for the mission and does not apply to the player’s aircraft.
Several faults have been observed. A parked Jet may hover slightly after switching characters or loading a save. Jets can also spawn incorrectly near Rockford Hills, colliding with scenery and exploding. Damage behavior does not fully match the four visible engines: attacks on an outer engine can instead make an inner one smoke, and engine failures may appear on the opposite side. On some occasions, a Jet refuses to rotate for takeoff and runs into the runway-end poles.
