Rebel

2022 leak Its only documented GTA VI appearance is the September 2022 development leak. We report that it happened; we do not host the material.

The Rebel is Karin's compact Japanese-style off-road pickup truck from GTA V and GTA Online, due to appear in Grand Theft Auto VI. It showed up in three clips of the September 2022 leaks, including two examples in red and blue driving past Lucia near Cipher Mall in Vice City's Rockridge neighborhood.

Grassrivers promotional appearance

The Rebel’s first official GTA VI showing came in a Rockstar promotional-site screenshot for Grassrivers. A beige example is pictured travelling through Watson Bay.

Leaked footage also placed the truck outside Rockridge Community Resource Center in Vice City’s Rockridge district. In separate scenes there, Lucia gets into its passenger side and is later seen in the passenger seat firing through the rear-side window.

Changes in the GTA VI model

The leaked GTA VI version has several visible revisions from the GTA V truck. Its door handles sit lower in a more conventional position, while the window openings are rounder and edged with rubber weather seals. The side steps now include black textured tread surfaces.

A rear skid plate is visible, and both rear bed sides carry the same “REBEL 4x4” wording; previously, the passenger-side marking used the reversed order. Footage of Lucia leaning out also reveals a more fully modelled cargo bed interior. These changes are documented from leak footage rather than the official Grassrivers image.

Toyota, Nissan and Mitsubishi cues

Its main real-world reference is the fourth-generation Toyota Hilux, specifically the N50/60/70 Xtracab SR5 4x4. The extended cab, wider fenders and lifted off-road stance follow that Hilux closely.

The front combines elements from older Hilux generations: round lamps resembling the 1979–81 N30 and a grille based on the 1982–83 N40. The rear-quarter treatment and smaller trim details also draw from the Datsun/Nissan 720 and second-generation Mitsubishi Triton, the K00/10/20/30 series.

GTA V truck specification

In GTA V and GTA Online, the two-door Rebel filled much the same compact-pickup role that the Bobcat had in the 3D Universe; the HD Universe Bobcat became a full-size model instead. The Rebel used a raised suspension with blue dampers, red springs and trailing arms, along with eight-spoke wheels and tall off-road tyres.

Its standard body used a primary paint colour, with the rear-quarter 4x4 lettering in the secondary colour. Possible equipment included either of two bull bars, plus a six-point bed-mounted roll bar that could carry four roof-level spotlights. The cabin seated two and shared much of its interior with the Bobcat XL, including the dial cluster in enhanced editions.

A CB radio was fitted. When Trevor was being played in Blaine County, trucker radio chatter could be heard even if the main radio had been switched off. The powertrain was described as a front-mounted V8 with a five-speed transmission and all-wheel drive, biased 30 percent to the front and 70 percent to the rear.

Availability and related vehicles

The clean Rebel was less common than its rusty counterpart in GTA V, although it could appear frequently once its spawn cycle began. It was encountered around Blaine County, at the Paleto Forest Sawmill in the Chiliad Mountain State Wilderness, and more often while driving a Bobcat XL. Varrios Los Aztecas and Marabunta Grande rivals also used it during Trevor’s Arms Trafficking ground jobs.

GTA Online added it through The I’m Not a Hipster Update at Southern San Andreas Super Autos for $22,000. Los Santos Customs paid $2,200 for one. It was later removed from the store in enhanced versions as part of the San Andreas Mercenaries update.

The earlier Rebel’s lifted setup was compared with the Sandking SWB and Sandking XL through its similarly coloured shocks and springs. Its engine audio resembled the Rancher XL, Landstalker and Cavalcade, using a high-revving diesel-like sound.
